Simon hosted us several times of ver 8 yrs- we have never lost touch with FB – I always wanted to come back to golf/ He was the great person- He welcomed us and treated so well! I can’t say enough about him!! I just congratulated him on his daughter’s wedding and he thanked me! Such a shock – prayers to his wife and beautiful daughters— RIP Simon

We met Simon when we came back to Zim in 2017 and lived in the Brooke – Della I’ve known since ‘83…! Simon was always always friendly, welcoming and had a wicked sense of humour… Delli, Cara, Dayna, Courtney and all the family – we are so sad for your loss… Sending you all much love and huge hugs. Rest in Peace dear Simon xxx 🕊️🕊️❤️

Growing up in the swimming world with Dayna, I have so many fond memories of Simon. He had such a radiance about him, filled with life and laughter, always telling jokes. I looked forward to Galas in Mutare, as the Herrings would open their doors and host the whole team at La Rochelle. Such a generous and caring family. He was one of the good ones, taken too soon.

My dear uncle Si will be sorely missed by all. We enjoyed many great family holidays together in both SA and Zim, which generally involved golf. He taught me my great card tricks (that I still do) and always had the best tricks and puzzles, which I was fascinated by. It is hard being so far away from the rest of the family today. I wish I could be with Della, Cara, Dayna and Courtney, and the rest of the wider family!! Sending all my love

I had the privilege of getting to know Simon better just a few weeks ago, but in that short time, I saw firsthand what a wonderful man he was. We sat side by side at the wedding, and bonded over the nerves and joy of making speeches. Even in those brief moments, it was clear how kind, warm, and full of life he was.

My heart goes out to Dayna and the entire family during this difficult time. Simon’s presence was a gift to those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Della my heart is sore for your loss but I rejoice that Simons name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. He has gone ahead of us but we shall be reunited! He was such a character and so loved by us all. Sending lots of love to you. To Cara, Day and Courts,I know what it’s like to loose a dad, but he is cheering for you guys in the great grandstand of heaven and as much as you feel he is missing all the milestones, don’t worry he has a front row seat and he won’t stay in it! Sending lots of love to you all

When all is said and done, the constants remain forever. Simon and Della have made a family so deeply rooted in love for each other, faith in God, laughter always and a belief in a happy life regardless of the challenges thrown along the way. Simon, Della, Cara, Dayna and Courtney are an example to the rest of us – learn to love, learn to live and laugh, have no regrets ever.
