What a gentleman! Bill was kind, generous and everyone’s friend. A fierce card player and he beat me at cribbage more times than I had lunches!!
Tall, handsome and erudite-a saying that will be with me forever.
He called Lynne a nepotistic temp, when Lynne did a temp job at Stannjc. A never forgotten comment.
We are honoured to have known Bill. We feel sorry for those who never had the privilege of knowing him. We are the lucky ones who did.
Our love and deepest sympathy to all the family.

I was so sad to hear of Bill’s passing. I fondly recall many visits to the Whytock home and them to the Emmerson home. In particular I enjoyed playing golf with Bill and my father-in-law John and catching up with Bill, Sandy and family in the UK. Will be remembered with great fondness.

Dear Jane, Alan, Trish, and families
My thoughts are with you. I am so sad to hear of Bill”s passing.
He was such a jovial man with a ready laugh. I especially appreciated his kindness towards my mother. He and Sandy were so good to her. I remember an occasion when on a visit to Johannesburg he and Alan were kind enough to make a surprise visit to me at my workplace. I really loved that and have never forgotten it. In his last years he remained so positive. A lesson for us all.
Bill, I will remember you with affection and respect.

I fondly remember as a child always being excited to visit the Whytock household. Sandy and Bill always indulged me with a game or two. I know my grandfather John and grandmother Eva held the Whytock family in very special regard. Our family will always remember how they were there for John and Eva. They were true friends. Rest in peace Bill.

Sad, sad, sad. But remembering all the good times our crowd of friends had back in the 60’s in Zambia, where we all shared many fun packed days. Also the too few meetings back in UK over the later years.
Our thoughts are with all the family, especially Alan and Jane and Trish.

A lovely memorial for Uncle Billy, perfect little stories which made me smile. I think he was always a calming presence with a great sense of humour. Mum tells a story of him making up scrabble words complete with a meaning! Love to you all. Mags x

We have very many happy memories of time spent in Lusaka with Bill and Sandy until we left in 1969.
Ann was also a work colleague with Bill at National and Grindlays Bank.
We were forever grateful to Bill and Sandy for taking our beautiful Shamus and looking after him so well.
Our deepest sympathy to Alan, Jane and all the family
    RIP Bill

Thanks to our local power cut I was unable to join in the service on line at 1030. Fortunately much later I managed to watch the whole memorial. I would have been so disappointed had I missed everything.
Bill was a very special friend all those years ago when our kids were all at school and also many years later when we managed to get together; Bill will be sadly missed but I was grateful that I managed to call on WhatSapp 2 or 3 months ago/

    To Jane, Alan and Families

We were deeply saddened to hear of Bill’s passing.
We watched Alan and Camila’s heartfelt tributes through the internet stream.
Living on Dublin Road, we couldn’t have asked for better neighbours than Sandy and Bill. Even after we moved away and returned to England, they stayed in touch with us regularly, and we always looked forward to their annual updates via email. Bill was a truly kind soul, and his absence will be felt deeply. We’ll never forget his patient introduction to the game of croquet, our only opportunity to wield a mallet.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Whytock family during this difficult time and always.
    Blessings to you all.
